PHC Patient Care Assistant (Monitor Tech/Unit Clerk)



High School Diploma or equivalent required


One year patient care experience preferred

Required skills:

Current Pennsylvania nursing assistant, EMT, or Paramedic certification

or Completion of nursing assistant course or Completion of clinical medical assistant

program or Completion of one semester of nursing school (RN or LPN program) or Current experience as nursing assistant; Healthcare Provider

(CPR) certification within 6 months and Comprehensive Crisis Management certification

within 18 months of start date in department/position


Complies with PENN HIGHLANDS CLEARFIELD policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations

Demonstrates knowledge of age-related needs of the patient, provides patient care based on these needs as evidenced by but not limited to:

Obtains vital signs, intake and output, and weightsAssists with personal hygiene and positioning of patientPerforms procedures (i. e.. application of warm compresses or cold ice packs, simple dressing changes, etc.) under direct supervision of the RN Responds promptly to patient call bells and patient needsPromptly reports changes in patient condition to the RNChecks each patient and repositions, ambulates, and meets patient needs a minimum of every 2 hours and more frequently as needed Maintains cleanliness of patient roomsMaintains cleanliness of and restocks supply areas and utility room Participates in the development of new staff as evidenced by but not limited to:

Actively participates in the orientation including cultural and social integration of new staff Demonstrates personal accountability as evidenced by but not limited to:

Shares information obtained at education conferences to staff members Participates in implementing departmental initiatives Conducts self in professional manner in dress, actions, and interpersonal communicationEnsures environment of safety for patients, significant others, and coworkersInforms Department Director/Supervisor/Clinical Manager of patient care situations and departmental problems as appropriateDemonstrates effective problem solving skills for clinical and departmental issues Maintains current CPR certification

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
